CHERI LUDWIG

Cheri Ludwig, 75, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Falls City. She was born at Falls City on Aug. 16, 1940 to the late Earl and Mary (Turner) Drumm.

On June 1, 1958 she married Larry Ludwig at Falls City. He passed away on Dec. 1, 1974.

Cheri was raised at Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1958. When married, the couple established their home in Germany due to her husband’s military service; they returned in 1959 and lived in Joliet, IL, until moving back to Falls City. In 1968, the couple purchased the Salem Slaughter House and operated the business until 1974.

She worked various jobs until going back to school and becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1978. She worked at Falls City Hospital and later became a Registered Nurse, retiring in 2006.

Cheri was a member of First Christian Church and Does Drove #56, both of Falls City.

She is survived by sons, Lonnie Ludwig, of Salem, and Rodney  (Soonan) Ludwig, of Washington State, and Scott (Sandy) Ludwig, of Burton, MI; daughters, Michele  (Jeff) Frederick, of Rulo, and Melody (Michael) McLaughlin, of Humboldt; one half-brother; two half-sisters; 14 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter-in-law, Johanna Ludwig.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at First Christian Church, with Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment at Steele Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Dorr & Clark Funeral Home, Falls City.
