DONALD R. STIVERS

Donald Ray Stivers, 72, of California, formerly of Shubert, passed away suddenly near Yuma, AZ, some time before Aug. 30, 2015. He was born on Nov. 11, 1942 to Earl and Onilee (Nincehelser) Stivers.

He graduated from Shubert High School in 1961. Following graduation, Donnie joined the Navy, where he was a corpsman. In 1962, he married Linda Lee Ramer. They returned to Nebraska, living in Omaha, in 1966 after living on the east coast. The couple divorced and he moved to Lincoln in 1974, where he worked as a mechanic for the State of Nebraska. In 1980, Donnie married Kathy Thompson, and they subsequently divorced. After retirement from the State, he was able to fulfill his life-long dream of gold prospecting. He was never happier than when showing off the nuggets and telling the story behind each find.  

Donnie is survived by children, Dawn (David) Roehrich, of Tampa, FL, and Randal (Tina) Stivers, of Reno, TX; sister Carol (James) Mordah, of El Centro, CA; brothers, Richard (Ronda), of Auburn, and Loren (Carol), of Rock Springs, TX; and grandchildren, Nicholas Ross, of Columbia, MO, Samantha Stivers, of Lincoln, Zachary and Dakota Stivers, of Reno, TX, and Jordana Roehrich, of Tampa; a great-grandson, Calvin Stivers of Reno, TX.  

He was preceded by parents Earl and Onilee (Nincehelser) Stivers.

Don is missed greatly by his family and the many friends he collected on his travels. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Mt. Vernon Cemetery near Peru, NE, at noon Saturday, May 7, 2016.
