Melanie Marie Frederick, 57, Cedar Falls, IA, formerly of Falls City, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, IA. She was born in Falls City on June 18, 1956, the daughter of Vincent, Jr. and Betty (Bentley) Frederick.
Melanie graduated from Falls City High School in 1974. She was married to Eric Jensen at Worland, WY, on Oct. 24 1986. They divorced in 1997.
Melanie received a national activity director certification in Wyoming in 1987 while working at the Bethesda Care Center of Worland. She later worked as a licensed practical nurse for the Clarion Health Care Center in Clarion, IA.
Melanie is survived by two children: Erica Jensen, Lodi, CA, and Spencer Jensen, Cedar Falls; her father, Vincent Frederick, Jr., Falls City; sisters, Arleta Kentopp, Lincoln, Donita Frederick, Falls City, and Julie DeCourley, Fisk, MO; brothers, Rodney, Great Bend, KS, Harley and James, both of Falls City; special friend, Larry Heggebo, Waterloo, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Frederick, and a brother, Mark, in infancy.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the Dorr and Clark Funeral Home in Falls City with Rev. Paul Weinert officiating.
