Lasilla Bernice Adams, 94, of Falls City, NE, passed away December 24, 2020 at St. Joseph, MO. She was born at Louisville, KS on October 19, 1926, the daughter of Elias M. and Marguerite F. (Homewood) Bachman.
The family moved to a farm south of Hiawatha, KS in 1936, then to a farm south of Rulo, NE in 1938. Bernice graduated from Falls City High School in 1944. That summer she attended Peru State Teachers College, after which she taught in rural schools for three years. Bernice married William “Red” Adams on June 19, 1946 in Hiawatha. They farmed in this area most of their lives and especially enjoyed raising horses and riding in saddle clubs. They had no children of their own but had lots of nieces and nephews who visited them often. Bernice and Red eventually retired in Falls City.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Alice Crouch and brothers, Thomas Homewood and Ronald Bachman. She is survived by her siblings, louise Pfankuche and Wauneta (Jim) Catlett both of Kansas City, MO, Marjorie Surman, Marlene McKim and Rita (Steve) Johansen all of Rulo, Ruth Lieneman of Robinson, KS, Benjamin (Sandy) Backhman and Robert (Joyce) Bachman both of Rulo and Gary (Cindy) Bachman of Falls City. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, James Crouch of Falls City and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Rulo Cemetery for close family members with Reverend Young Je Kim officiating.
There will be no viewing or visitation. The book may be signed beginning Monday at 9:00 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
