Mike Meyerkorth

Mike Meyerkorth, 64, of Paxico, Kansas passed away December 12, 2018 in Manhattan, KS. He was born October 22, 1954 at Humboldt, to Lavern and Lila (Vice) Meyerkorth. 

Mike was raised in the rural Shubert area and graduated Peoples Bible College at Colorado Springs. He returned home to partner in the family farm and started his hay business. Once married, the couple established their home on a farm near Shubert. 

He married Rebecca Ganger on March 1, 1977 in Alliance, Ohio.  They were later divorced.

In 1984, they moved to Wamego, Kansas, and he joined a roofing company and then joined the Wamego Police Department as a law enforcement officer.  He then sold insurance and did estate planning, all while continuing the hay and livestock business. He then became employed in the transport business in Alaska and North Dakota, continued trucking in Kansas, and then drove a taxi in Manhattan until the time of his death. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and National Hay Association.

Mike is survived by his children Lincoln Meyerkorth (Tracy), Wheaton; Dorlan Meyerkorth (Casie Laumann), Westmoreland; and Heather Hurla (Steven), Paxico; mother, Lila Meyerkorth, Shubert, brother, Greg Meyerkorth (Mary Nelsen), Verdon; sisters, Pam Pickard and Judith Jeffrey, both of Verdon; and nine grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his father. 

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Mt. Zion Brick Church, east of Shubert with Pastor Tim Pearson officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Brick Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
