Myrtle “Myrt” Arnold

Myrtle “Myrt” Arnold, 93, of Falls City, passed away March 16, 2018 in St. Joseph, MO. She was born June 11, 1924 in rural Dawson, to James and Myrtle Mae (Johnson) Lanning, Sr. She married Charles Arnold on Oct. 2, 1943 in Shreveport, LA. He passed away Dec. 29, 2002.

Myrt was raised in rural Dawson and graduated Dawson High School in 1942. When married she lived on a farm while her husband served in the U. S. Army. Upon his discharge they made their home on a farm northwest of Salem in Jan. of 1947, moving to a farm southeast of Dawson in 1966 where she lived until moving into Falls City in 2013. She had been an employee of American National Bank at Dawson for 25 years. She was the family historian and genealogist and was an avid bridge player, belonging to many bridge clubs. She was a member of Prairie Union Baptist Church and the Sunshine Club.

Myrt is survived by her son, Charles and his wife Bonnie of Lincoln; sister, Dorothy Beutler of Omaha; grandchildren, Heather Hasler and her husband Chad of Lawrence, KS, Brendan Arnold and his wife Bethany of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Kate and Dawson Arnold.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Berlin, Kenneth and James A. Lanning, Jr. and a sister, Pearl Hudson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Daniel Farley officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery.
