MELODY THOMPSON

Melody Thompson, 40, of Ashland, formerly of Rulo, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at Omaha. She was born Oct. 9, 1976 at Falls City to Norman and Pam (Record) Thompson.  
    Melody was raised at Rulo and graduated from Falls City High School in 1995. Following graduation she worked at CRT telemarketing and was licensed to sell insurance for them. Following the closing of CRT she was a hostess at Squaw Creek Truck Plaza then worked at the Iowa Tribal Learning Center and became manager. She then was a waitress at Ye Old Time Saloon at Rulo before moving to Ashland in 2012.
    She married John Sells at Rulo, and they were later divorced.
    Melody was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Rulo.
    She is survived by her children, River and Caroline McCardican, and Matteo Ornales; fiance, Arnulfo Ornales, of Ashland; parents, Norman and Pam Thompson, of Rulo; brother, Todd (Lari Jo) Thompson, of Rulo; sister, Regina Kapustka, of Wymore; nieces and nephews.
    Melody was preceded in death by a daughter, Lacey McCardican, in infancy.
     A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, Falls City, with Rev. Jerry Yount officiating. Inurnment at Rulo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
