Denise Metzner, 64, of Falls City, passed away April 23, 2019, at Lincoln, NE. She was born March 14, 1955, at Lincoln, NE to Wendall and Lois (Ziemann) Wissel.
Denise was raised at Hickman, NE and graduated Norris High School in 1973. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and then graduated University of Nebraska Medical Center as a Medical Technologist.
She married Vince Metzner on November 16, 1985, at Falls City.
She moved to Falls City in 1977 and became employed by Community Medical Center in the hospital lab. She was promoted to supervisor in 1987 and worked there until her death.
She enjoyed coaching junior high volleyball at Sacred Heart School, team roping mom and watching kids at roping events. She loved to garden and make Christmas candy. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Denise is survived by her husband, Vince of Falls City, daughter, Cassie Metzner of Lincoln, son, Dusty and his wife Andrea of Rulo, parents, Wendall and Lois Wissell of Hickman.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, April 26, 2019, at 10:30 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Cole Kennett as the presiding priest.
Interment was in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.
A Parish Rosary was recited on Thursday at 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
