JAMES MCGINNIS

James McGinnis, 83, of Omaha (formerly of Dawson), passed away on Nov. 21, 2016 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. James was born Sept. 6, 1933, at Dawson, to Ernest and Anna McGinnis.
James graduated from Dawson High School in 1951. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 aboard the USS Walton. He was a teacher and coach for 27 years, serving at Stapleton, NE public school from 1961-1965; at Gothenburg, NE public school from 1965 to 1970; Curtis Medicine Valley public high school from 1970 to 1977; and Roncalli Catholic high school from 1977 to 1988.
Jim is survived by sons, Douglas (Carrie) and Allen (Michelle), both of North Platte, NE; daughters, Kathy Erickson of Aloha, OR, Mary (Eric) Linville, of Humboldt; Karen (Greg) McCarty, of Clarksville, MO, Paula (Bill) Wakefield, of Lincoln, and Lisa, of Omaha; brothers, Tom of Falls City, Carl (Jean) of Lincoln, Mike (Shirley) of Council Bluffs; sister, Margaret Weagel, of Falls City.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Edna June (Russell), parents, Ernest and Anna McGinnis; brothers, Qualls, Joseph and John; sisters, Anna Farnsworth and Rosemary Inglis.
Services were held at St. James Catholic Church in Omaha on Saturday, Nov. 26. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Dawson with Military Graveside Honors.  Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 9025 Larimore St., Omaha, NE or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dawson, NE.
