Naomi Pearl “Betty” Sines

Naomi Pearl “Betty” Livermore Sines, 91, of Hiawatha, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital. She previously had made her home at the Pines South and Vintage Park.

Betty was born Oct. 29, 1922, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Peggy Humphrey Livermore and grew up there where she attended school. She married D.L. “Dutch” Sines, July 6, 1941. They lived at Cedar Rapids until 1955, when she and Dutch moved to a small farm near Solon, Iowa and resided there until 1989, when they moved to Hiawatha, KS.

Survivors include two sons: Leonard (Sue) Sines, of Phoenix, AZ, Robert (Nancy) Sines, of Hiawatha, KS; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Leona Humphrey; and her husband of 52 years, Dutch, in 1993.

A celebration of Betty’s life was held Saturday, May 3, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Shane Spangler officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.
