The Falls City High School boys’ track team scored 84 points and won their own triangular last Tuesday, March 31, going away.
Finishing first for the Tigers: Zach Jordening, 100-meter dash (:11.91), and he also tied for first in the high jump (5-10); Anthony Baker, 1600 (5:28.1); Lucas Kirkendall, 300-meter hurdles (:47.84), 3200-meter relay team of Brandon Gibson, Baker, Derik Eickhoff and Brett Black (9:37.1); Tucker Merz, discus (126-1.5); Ben Bauman, shot put (43-5); Lee Huettner, long jump (20-9.5) and triple jump (42-8.5); and Brett Black, 800 (2:26.02).
In addition, Huettner was second in the 100 (:11.95), Kirkendall second in the 110s (:18.34), Baker was runner-up in the 3200 (11:59.25), Merz finished second to Bauman in the shot (41-05), Zayne Heckenlively was runner-up to Huettner in the long jump (19-6), Eickhoff finished runner-up to Black in the 800 (2:32), and the 3200-meter relay team of Justin Ernst, Jessi Dean, Kirkendall and Shane Campbell were second to HTRS in the 1600-meter relay (4:18.4).
Winning events for HTRS: Bryant Hunzeker, 3200 (11:51.55), Ben Railsback, high jump (tie, 5-10), and the 1600-meter relay team.
The Lady Titans were led by Allie Binder, who put up eye-catching numbers in winning the 1600 (5:36), 3200 (13:09.17) and 800 (2:43.27). Kendall Werts won the 300-meter lows (:56.01); Logan Standerford won the discus (102-4) and shot (33-6.5); Bailey Kuhlman the pole vault (9-0); Laura Stalder took first in the 400 (1:06.94) and the 1600-meter relay team was also crowned.
HTRS also had second-place finishes from Claire Svoboda in the 100 highs (:19.47), Whitney Ramsey in the discus (86-7.5) and vault (6-6), Stalder in the high jump (4-8), and Becca Watson in the 400 (1:14.7).
For the Lady Tigers, Syd Armbruster claimed first in the 100-meter highs (:19.4), and Lainey Larsen, Lauren Bierman, Meredith Poppe and Brooklyn Romine combined to win the 3200-meter relay (11:59.98).
Armbruster was also runner-up in the 300-meter lows (:58.19), Larsen was second in the two-mile (13:39.91); Brittany Webster finished second in the shot (29-5.5); and the Tiger 1600-meter relay team of Kirsten Carter, Morgan Roberts, Tavis Bruxellas and Taylor O’Brien finished second to HTRS with a time of 5:36.29.
