Kristy Gerweck becomes FC Elks first female E.R.

On Friday, April 3, the Falls City Elks Lodge #963 installed Kristy Gerweck as it’s first female Exalted Ruler.

In the Falls City Lodge’s 110-year history, they have never had a female hold the position.  As recently as 1995, membership in the Elks was denied to women. Their involvement in the nationwide fraternal organization was limited to being a support system to their spouses.

Kristy has been involved in the Elks Club for over seven years and both her and her husband, Past Exalted Ruler Rob Gerweck devote countless hours to the newly remodeled club. She resides in Falls City, has four children and 14 grandchildren. Kristy enjoys spending time with her family, playing golf and bridge and riding the Harley.

Kristy replaces outgoing E.R. Brian McKim and will serve for the next year.

Other officers installed were: Kevin Gutshall, Leading Knight; Josh Ramer, Loyal Knight; Jacob Smith, Lecturing Knight; Buck Simon, Chaplin; Bobby Walsh, Inner Guard; Jim Smith, Tiler; Ben Hullman, Secretary; Betty Massy, Treasurer.

Gutshall, Ramer, Smith and Jerry McKim serve on the House Committee and Darin Davis is author of the monthly newsletter.

Family Night, prepared by Steve Simon, is Thursday, April 23. Youth Week will be held May 3-9.
