Ron Fritz

Ron Fritz, 84, of Salem, NE, passed away November 18, 2020, at his home. He was born September 7, 1936, on the family farm north of Salem to Harvey and Violet (Jones) Fritz.
He married Brenda Wiar on February 5, 1961, at Falls City, NE.
Ron enlisted in the U. S. Army on March 29, 1956, at Falls City. He earned a Sharpshooter Badge and was honorably discharged on December 31, 1957, at Ft. Sheridan, IL.
Ron was raised north of Salem and graduated from Verdon High School in 1954. He attended the University of Nebraska and ran track. When discharged, he returned to Salem and was a member of the Nebraska National Guard. When married, the couple established their home on the family farm and he took over the farming operation following the death of his father. He retired from farming in 2014 but still helped when needed. He was a member of the Brethren Church at Falls City, he served on the Verdon School board and drove a school bus. He was a past deacon of the Verdon Congregational Church and a long time umpire and member of the ASA Umpires Association for more than 40 years.
Ron is survived by his wife, Brenda of Salem, daughters, Ronda Fritz of Avoca, IA, Stacey Duerfeldt and her husband Stan of Falls City, sister, Catherine Palensky of Omaha, granddaughters, Shelby Kuker and her husband Eli and Lindsey Duerfeldt and her significant other Payton Adams, sisters-in-law, Barbara Young of Jefferson City, MO, Linda Wiar of Falls City, Jakie Fritz of Phoenix, AZ, Jeanine Wiar of Boise, ID, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Brad and Ronnie, brothers, Art and Bob.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 1:30 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Haworth officiating. Interment will be in Verdon Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.

COVID 19 Funeral Guidelines will be implemented with limited spaced seating (25% occupancy), 6 feet of separation between household units and masks required.
