Bonnie Rae (Kessler) Zentner, 79, of Falls City, was born August 16, 1941, in Falls City, Nebraska, to Alfred and Imogene (Young) Kessler. She was raised in Falls City, where she received all of her schooling. Bonnie graduated from Falls City High School with the class of 1959. On June 12, 1960, Bonnie was united in marriage to Kenneth Zentner at Christ Lutheran Church in Falls City. To this union, two sons, Brad and Mark, were born. Kenneth and Bonnie raised their family in Falls City while Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper for different local businesses over the years. She was a bookkeeper for American Loan, Frank’s Jewelry, Stevenson Hotel, and many years for Falls City Auto Supply until retirement. Bonnie was a wonderful homemaker that enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Bonnie was also a very active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Falls City, serving for many years in the Altar Guild, LWML and held the position of Christian Growth Chairman. She was in charge of the making of quilts for the needy of Orphan Grain Train and Lutheran World Relief. Bonnie later became a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 20th & Towle Street in Falls City.
Bonnie went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 16, 2020, at the Falls City Care Center, having reached the earthly age of seventy-nine years and three months. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Sheila Whalen.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband Kenneth Zentner of Falls City, sons: Brad Zentner and wife Ruthann of Lee’s Summit, MO; Mark Zentner and wife Pam of Savage, MN; grandchildren: McKenzie Marston of Kansas, MO; Hunter and Piper Zentner both of Lee’s Summit, MO; Megan Zentner of Savage, MN; brothers-in-law: Richard Zentner and wife Carolyn of Falls City, Robert “Bob” Zentner of Falls City, Larry Whalen of Falls City, and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Steele Cemetery in Falls City with Pastor Andrew Chavanak. “How Great Thou Art” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” will be sung by vocalist Jon Von Behren. Honorary Pallbearers for Bonnie’s service are her grandchildren McKenzie Marston, Megan Zentner, Hunter Zentner and Piper Zentner.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020, at The Hall Funeral Home, 2403 Harlan Street, in Falls City. Due to the current status of COVID-19, masks ARE required to enter our funeral home facility.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
