PEGGY LIBERTY

Peggy Liberty, 79, of Nebraska City, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at Auburn. She was born Dec. 2, 1937 at Rulo to the late Olin and Ruth (Pifer) McWain.

Peggy was raised at Rulo and attended school there. She married Raymond Liberty on March 23, 1957 at Hiawatha, KS. He passed way on Feb. 9, 1990.

When married, the couple lived in Kansas City, Brownville, Peru and Nemaha. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Tecumseh, where she worked for the Campbell Soup Co. She retired in 1997 after 25 years of employment. Peggy moved to Edwardsville, KS, in 1998 and then to Nebraska City in 2014 to be with her daughter. She moved into the Good Samaritan Home in Auburn in 2016.

She is survived by daughters, Peggy Yott and special friend, Rick Pugh, of Tecumseh, and Norma (Duane) Horner, of Nebraska City; brother, Kenneth McWain, of Kansas City; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Betty Tracy; brothers, Neil and Vernon McWain; and a son, Rodney, in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, with Butch Liberty officiating. Interment at Rulo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
