DOROTHY BOYD

Dorothy Boyd, 91, of Yakima, WA, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016 at Crescent Nursing Home in Yakima after a long illness. She was born to Easm and Mary Hollens in Falls City on Dec. 15, 1924.

She married Daryl Boyd and had two children: a daughter, Karen Kay, of Falls City, and a son, Ronald Boyd, who died in December of 2000.

After her husband Daryl passed away in the spring of 1973, Dorothy got together with her life partner of 43 years, Don Gress. They shared his six children, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She had nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren of her own that live in both Falls City, Kansas and Missouri.

Dorothy was a fabulous cook, classy dresser, and collector of shoes. She kept a clean house and enjoyed crafts, flipping through magazines and cooking up delicious meals and desserts. At times a witty humor would sneak out.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Daryl; son Ronald; her parents; brothers, Easm and Earl Hollens, sisters, Evelyne Barber and Mildren Frederick; and her oldest sister, Lila, who died when she was 10 years old.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at the Broadmoor Community Clubhouse, 55 W. Washington Ave., Yakima. To share a memory or condolence with the family, please visit www.brooksidefhc.com
