MARLENE GILKERSON

Marlene Gilkerson, 67, of Falls City, passed away April 16, 2015 at Falls City. She was born March 3, 1948 at Falls City to the late E.A. and Grace (Gehling) Broadstone.

She was raised at Falls City and attended FC Sacred Heart High School. Following her schooling, she married Ralph Gilkerson on Oct. 11, 1965 in Falls City. The couple established their home in Falls City and worked at Frontier Homes and the FC Meat Co. before becoming employed by the FC Police Dept. as a dispatcher for 13 years. She then managed the restaurant at the Oasis and became a Certified Nursing Assistant, traveling and working in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. She retired in 2000 and was then a homemaker.

Marlene was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Rulo.

She’s survived by her husband, Ralph, of Falls City; sons, Brian (Amanda) Gilkerson, of Bay St. Louis, MS, and Keith (Kim) Gilkerson, of Falls City; brother, Gehling (Bertha) Broadstone, of Kansas City, MO; sisters, Alvia (Dean) Davis and Claudette (Bill) Davis, all of Fremont; grandchildren, Kaleb (Katie) Gilkerson, of FC; Christina, Robert and Emma Gilkerson, of FC; Stephen Wendtlandt, of Dawson; and Rebecca, Rick and Justin Woods, of Bay St. Louis, MS; great-grandchildren, Braylon Gilkerson, of FC; and Zachery and Kenzleigh Wendtlandt, of Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Bellson and Kathy Hoy; brother, Merlin Broadstone; and her children, Gehling and Grace Gilkerson.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Rulo, with Fr. David Oldham as the presiding priest. Inurnment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Dorr & Clark Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
