Lynn (Voltmer) Connell, 58, of Omaha, formerly of Humboldt, was born on Sept. 1, 1955 in Falls City to Marland F. and Anna Sue (Porter) Voltmer.
She attended Nebraska City High School, graduating with the Class of 1973. Lynn graduated from Peru State College with her Bachelors in Education and later continued her education by earning a Masters Degree in Education.
On May 9, 1975, Lynn married Kent Connell in Nebraska City, sharing 39 years of marriage together. To this union two daughters, Mindy and Kassandra, were born. They lived and raised their family in Humboldt, where Lynn worked at HTRS Public Schools for 22 years. Lynn liked to teach. She always took seriously the responsibility that parents entrusted in her to insure that their children received not only an education, but also a desire to learn more. Her teaching efforts were shown when she won the Christa McCaullife Award for Courage and Excellence in Education. After she was no longer able to be in the classroom, Lynn stayed involved in education by serving on the HTRS School Board and helped write school grants.
Lynn’s deepest love and passion was her family. Her daily physical struggles were endured for the sole purpose of being there for them. The joy of her two daughters, and later her grandsons Michael, Lance, and Alex filled her with strength unmatched by most. Her passing will leave a void hard to fill, but we know she will still be lovingly helping us.
Lynn passed away on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, having reached the age of 58 years, 11 months and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her son, Shea Connell; parents, Marland and Anna Sue (Porter) Voltmer; a brother Richard Slemp; and mother-in-law Lou Connell.
She is survived by her loving husband Kent Connell, of Omaha; daughters, Mindy (Eric) Jarecki, of Omaha, Kassandra Connell, of Omaha; grandsons, Michael, Lance and Alex Jarecki, of Omaha; sister, Suzie (Tom) Lee, of Medicine Ledge, KS; father-in-law, Charles Connell, of Nebraska City; sister-in-law, Marla Slemp, of Grand Blanc, MI; brothers-in-law, Joe (Ruth) Connell, of Riverton, IA; Kevin Connell, of Oregon, MO; special friend, Ruth Drake, of Humboldt; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
