Longtime Falls City, Nebraska businessman Michael A. “Mike” Strecker, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 19, 2014, at his home. He was 68.
Mike was born in Falls City on Nov. 10, 1945, one of two sons born to Clarence and Bonnie Smith Strecker and was a lifelong Falls City resident. He attended Falls City public schools, graduating from Falls City High School in 1963. He graduated from Milford Technical School in 1965, with a degree in auto mechanics. While in high school, he worked at Bentley Conoco Station prior to working for Armbruster Motor Co. from 1965-1976 as a mechanic.
Mike started Strecker Gun and Supply in Falls City in 1968 in a spare bedroom at the house, while working full time. In July 1976, he went fulltime with the business, operating out of the basement. The family moved to the present home in July 1977 where the business is still located. Mike was still active in the business at the time of his death.
He married Linda M. Horn, June 4, 1966, at Falls City. She survives.
Other survivors include his son, Shawn (Pamela) Strecker, of Horton; a granddaughter, Shawna; his second father, Olen Long, of Dallas, OR.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Doug.
It was Mike’s wish to be cremated with private burial to take place at a later date.
