LELAND ‘LEE’ SCRIBNER

Leland James “Lee” Scribner, 88, of Rice Lake, WI died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He was born June 28, 1926 in Cumberland, WI to James and Jenny (Jorgenson) Scribner.

He was raised there and graduated from Cumberland High School. He enlisted in the US Army and served during WWII. He married Elaine Petersen in Pine City, MN on Jan. 13, 1946. They lived in Comstock and he sold Pontiacs for Bents Motors. He then worked as a sales/marketing manager for many agricultural seed companies.

Lee was active in his community, including serving on the board of the Rice Lake Golden K. He was also very involved at Bethany Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and was nearly obsessed with lawn care and gardening.

He is survived by his wife for over 69 years, Elaine, of Rice Lake; four sons, Barry L. (Rebecca Drechsel) Scribner, of Armonk, NY, Timothy J. (Kim) Scribner, of Rochester, MN, Jeffrey T. (Nita) Scribner, of Chanhassen, MN, and Rodney M. Scribner, of Rochester; seven grandchildren, Alicia, Zara, Noah, Ryan, Stacey, Marcus and Nick; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lee was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Hahn, and brothers Russell Scribner (Falls City native), Myron Scribner and Lyle Scribner.

A Celebration of Lee’s Life was  held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, with Pastor Bob Burg officiating. Burial with Military Honors accorded by the Rice Lake Veteran’s Honor Guard were in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Comstock.
