Eunice A. Lock

Eunice A. Lock, 92, of Hiawatha, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha where she had resided a few years. She was born near Robinson, July 8, 1921, one of two daughters of Wesley and Elizabeth Moening Wagoner and was a lifelong resident of Brown County.  

She grew up north of Robinson and walked to school, later graduating high school with the Class of 1939.  

Mrs. Lock was a long time member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Hiawatha; the Hiawatha Saddle Club; and was club leader for the Hamlin Pied Pipers 4H Club for many years.  

Eunice married Harold R. Lock on Sept. 21, 1950, at Hiawatha. She helped in the operation of the farm, raising livestock, a garden, and the raising of two sons. Harold died Sept. 25, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Kyle, on Nov. 1, 1984; and a sister, Hilda Smith.

Survivors include two sons: Steven (Linda) Lock, of rural Hiawatha, and Stanley (Denise) Lock, of Republic, MO; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, Dec. 27, at St. Ann Catholic Church, with Fr. Dan Gardner as the celebrant. Interment followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Friends called at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha Thursday, where the parish rosary was recited, followed by family visitation.
