James W. Rieger, 90, of Falls City passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2016 in Falls City. He was born on Oct. 9, 1926 in Falls City to the late John and Mary (Dodds) Rieger.
He married Ann Stednitz on Oct. 14, 1951 at Falls City. She passed away Nov. 17, 2006.
James was raised on the family farm and attended Falls City High School. When married, the couple established their home on the farm where he worked most of his life, up until moving into Falls City in 2007. Other than farming, he also drove the bus for Falls City Public Schools and worked for Woodings-Verona for many years. He was a member of First Brethren Church, where he served as a Deacon and trustee, was a member of the Rural Fire Dept., and was on the Rural Water District Board.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary (Jeffrey) Hanson, of Ithica, NE; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife; brother, John; and sister, Anna Mae.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, with Pastor Victor Haworth officiating. Interment will be at Steele Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
