Yvonne Anita McCartney, “Matawehwin”

Yvonne Anita McCartney, “Matawehwin”, 33, of Hiawatha, passed away Monday January 15, 2018 at St Francis Hospital, Topeka. Yvonne was born at St Francis Hospital on October 26, 1984 to Tony Hyde and Angelina Ramirez of Hiawatha.

She was a lifelong resident of Hiawatha. Yvonne graduated from Hiawatha High School in 2003. Yvonne volunteered as a daycare assistant and her occupation was a real estate investor. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to five children. In 2002 she met the love of her life, James McCartney Jr. Yvonne and Jim held their wedding services inside the grand canyon in Nevada on December 7, 2004.

Yvonne was proud to be a stepmom to the children of her heart, Monica and David McCartney. On May 6, 2006 Yvonne was greatly blessed with the birth of her son, Felix. Yvonne became a puppy mom to her pride and joy Chihuahua, Mason in the summer of 2016. Yvonne and Jim were blessed with the arrival of their niece and nephew into their home in June 2014.Jim and Yvonne have raised their beautifully blended family together in Hiawatha.

Yvonne was preceded in death by seven of her unborn children lost through miscarriages; niece, Paula Joanna-Tonyanita Hyde; mother, Angelina Ramirez; grandmother, Bernice Hyde; step-brother, Justin Swindle; Aunt, Veronica “Meatie”; cousin Felton, cousin Quincy, cousin Xushu Brown “Lil Shu”.

Yvonne is survived by her husband Jim McCartney Jr, five children, Monica McCartney, David McCartney, Felix McCartney, Bradley Krebs Jr., and Joanna Hyde II, her Chihuahua Mason; parents, Tony and Helen Hyde of Hiawatha; 13 sisters, Justina Brockman of Shawnee, Kansas, Joanna Hyde of El Cajon, California, Ophelia Hyde of Flagstaff, AZ, Alexandria Hyde of St. Joseph, MO, Arlissa Simmons of Leadville, Colorado, Darliss, Alissen, Marissa, Iriss, Clarissa “CD”, and Vanessa “Nessy” Whitebird of Horton Kansas, Jessi Whitebird of Kansas City, KS, and Riss Whitebird of Holton Kansas, three brothers Austin, Alvin, and Devin Whitebird of Horton Kansas, step brother Bruce Swindle, her family by marriage, Jim and Sue McCartney of Falls City, NE, Mick and Mary Clary of Wathena, KS, Mario and Connie Ramirez of Holton, KS, Sean and Marsha Frederick of Falls City, Keith McCartney of Falls City; aunts, Cynthia, Andrea, Lucinda; uncle, Xusha; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.

Yvonne enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband and children, bowling on a league in St. Joe, and holding babies in daycare.

Yvonne’s most enjoyed hobby was going to her kids’ activities, planning their schedules and taking care of them and her puppy. Yvonne attended First Baptist Church in Holton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7:30 Thursday evening.

Funeral services are planned for Friday, at 11 a.m., January 19, at Chapel Oaks funeral Home, Hiawatha with Pastor Tim O’Bryrne officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope cemetery, Hiawatha.

Memorial contributions will be applied to her children’s college funds. Donations may be sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S. 7th St., Hiawatha, KS 66436.
