Carole Joanne Shafer, 80, of Shubert, NE, passed away March 7, 2020 at her home. She was born August 21, 1939 to Claron and Bernice (Rowell) Vice.
She married Max W. Shafer on June 17, 1956 at Shubert, NE.
Joanne was raised near Indian Cave State Park for several years. The family moved to Shubert then to Omaha for her father’s work. She graduated Omaha Central High School in 1956. When married the couple established their home at Shubert.
Joanne was a lifelong member of Shubert Christian Church. She was involved in many groups associated with the church which included Bible School, CWF, Christmas programs, regional assemblies and many Lord’s Acre Sales. She was also and Elder of the church. She enjoyed church and was a faithful follower of the Lord and served him well.
Joanne loved music, she sang, played guitar and piano. She sang and played music for church services, weddings, funerals and many other church functions.
Joanne is survived by her husband Max W., son, Max III and his wife Jenny, daughter, Penny Shafer all of Shubert, sister, Joyce Pickett of League City, TX, grandchildren, Max Shafer IV of Maryville, MO, Treia Shafer of Orlando, FL, Jeff Kosmicki, Ben Kosmicki and Breanna Kosmicki, great-grandchildren, Jake Gard, Max Shafer V, Jonah Shafer and Addy Gard all of Maryville, MO, Kyla Bertram of Lincoln, NE, Gabriel Rhoades, Harper Hicks of Fairfax, MO and Silas Kosmicki. She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Treia VaNae Shafer in infancy.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Shubert Christian Church with Pastor Chuck Snow officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery.
Open visitation and viewing will began Tuesday afternoon at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
