James R. Stone Jr.

James R. “Jim” Stone Jr., 49, of Morrill, KS, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

He was born on March 15, 1964, at Superior, the son of Jim Stone Sr. and Marlene (Imler) Stone at Superior. He attended Burr Oak Schools and graduated from Lawrence High School with the class of 1982, then attended Cloud County Community College. Jim worked for KR92 radio in Belleville, KS, KNZA 103.9 in Hiawatha, the Brown County Sheriff’s Dept. and served as Hiawatha Chief of Police. He worked security and served as surveillance director at the Sac & Fox Casino, then the Golden Eagle Casino as surveillance director. He also worked at the National Guard Armory in Topeka, serving as security. Currently, he was working for Air Lanco in Falls City in the quality control, safety and compliance division.

Jim was united in marriage to Jeanne McFarland on Oct. 18, 2001.

He is survived by his parents, Jim Stone Sr. and Marlene Stone of Mankato, KS, his wife, Jeanne of the home, children, Christopher Stone, Kaeli Stone, Cory Stone, James Stone, Megan Peabody, Morgan Peabody and Marissa Peabody, a grandparent, Norma Imler, Juniata, NE, two sisters, Chris Bryant, Burr Oak, KS, and Hollie (Tony) Wilkins, Mankato, KS, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Jim in death were his grandparents, an uncle and a brother-in-law.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 14, at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha, KS. Visitation was Sunday at the chapel. Interment was in the Morrill Cemetery.
