Larry Raymond Maddox

Larry Raymond Maddox, one of 11 children of Floyd and Mildred (Colerick) Maddox, was born June 26, 1955, at Auburn, Nebraska.  Larry grew up in Nemaha, attending school there as a boy before attending Southeast Consolidated High School at Stella.  Larry attended Nemaha United Methodist Church as a child (whenever his mother could get him to go).

On April 29, 1975, Larry was united in marriage to Gerri Brown at Auburn, Nebraska.  They would be blessed with two sons, Adam and Josh.  Larry and Gerri made their home in Shubert.

Larry was always a very hard-working man; he began working at a young age for Larry Tanner.  He then went to work at Kentopp Elevator, where he would work for 10+ years.  Larry was then employed at Auburn Consolidated Industries in Auburn for another 10+ years before going to work for Davis Plumbing and then Sur Gro in Stella.  After working in Stella several years, Larry then began working for Ag Partners out of Kansas, where he was still currently employed.

To say Larry was a jack of all trades, might be an understatement.  There wasn’t a thing that he couldn’t fix, from carpentry to cars, Larry was always outside tinkering on something.  Larry had a rough exterior, maybe even scary to some, but inside, Larry had a heart of gold and would do anything to help out in anyway that he could.  He was always ready to lend a helping hand or even just an ear, no matter what time of the night it might be.  Larry was always a provider, he loved his family and extended family, especially his grandkids.  Larry played ring around the rosy, duck, duck, goose, and even let the granddaughters paint his nails and do his hair, he could never tell them no.

On the morning of Saturday, April 1, 2023, Larry was rushed to the Community Medical Center in Falls City.  It was there, that he passed away unexpectedly after reaching the age of 67 years, 9 months, and 6 days.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandpa Alva Colerick, father-in-law Bud Brown, brothers Floyd J. and Paul, grandson Dameon Keeton, nephew Brandon Floyd Wamsley, niece Brenda Reeves, cousin Scooter Shubert, sister-in-law Robin Ray, and brothers-in-law Ron Simmons and Craig Davis.

Those left to remember his caring ways include his wife Gerri of Shubert; sons and daughters-in-law Adam and Amy of Shubert, Josh and Amanda of Shubert; grandchildren Addy, Taytum, Caroline, Tannar, Liam, and Tyden; brothers and sisters Carol Simmons of Nemaha, Doris (Jerry) Barnard of Lincoln, Gary (Pat) Maddox of Auburn, Jean (Terry) Reeves of Peru, Mary Davis of Shubert, Alice (Gary) Alexander of Auburn, Pat (Don) Wamsley of Nemaha, Kenny (Tamara) Maddox of Madrid, NE; mother-in-law June Brown of Shubert; sisters- and brothers-in-law Genny Maddox of California, Diane Maddox of Nebraska City,  Gary Brown of Lincoln, Rick Brown of Lincoln, Keith Brown of Gering, Tracy (Kari) Brown of Tucson, AZ, Leigh Ann Brown of Wahoo; many, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
