CARL L. ROMINE

Carl L. Romine, 88, Falls City, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015 at Falls City. He was born on Nov. 15, 1927 at South Bend, NE, to the late Henry and Katherine (Schroeder) Romine.  

Carl was raised at Rulo and attended country school. Following his schooling, he worked various places until enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard on Feb. 7, 1945 as a Steward’s Mate, Third Class. Carl served on the USS General A. W. Brewster and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1946 at St. Louis, MO.

On June 15, 1947 he married Ella Mae Boyer at Hiawatha, KS.

He attended school for auto body repair in Kansas City. He first worked for Mitchel Ford in Falls City before moving to Wichita, where he worked as an auto body repair technician. He returned to Falls City and continued in the business until 1962, when he purchased his auto body repair business from Lewis Dodson. He worked there until retiring in 2014 and he continued to help his grandson, Mitchel, who owns the shop now.

Carl was a member of the First Christian Church in Falls City.

He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae Romine, of FC; sons, Alan (Freeda) Romine, of FC, and Paul (Linda) Romine, of Columbia, MO; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dana and Kevin Romine; and a granddaughter, Emily Romine.

Carl’s funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 at First Christian Church, with Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment at Steela Cemetery with graveside honors by the Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard. The family received friends Sunday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
