Lawrence “Larry” Paul Davis

Lawrence “Larry” Paul Davis, 79, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on August 11, 1943 in Humboldt, Nebraska to Lester and Margaret (Warner) Davis.  He was raised in Humboldt where he attended school and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1962.  Following graduating, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country in active duty from August 31, 1962 to his honorable discharge on September 13, 1966.  He was united in marriage to Darlene Burgett in Humboldt, Nebraska on June 6, 1966.  To this union two sons, Donald and Steven were born.  Larry worked for O.A. Cooper Mill in Humboldt for many years where he was the third generation in his family to be the Head Miller.  After Darlene passed away, Larry was later united in marriage to Marlene Kahl on September 4, 1988, in Falls City, Nebraska. The couple has made their home in Humboldt and are members of the Faith Lutheran Church.  Larry enjoyed fishing and has helped with the maintenance of the Humboldt Cemetery for many years.

Larry passed away on January 27, 2023, at the Community Medical Center in Falls City, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-nine years, five months and sixteen days.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Darlene and son Steven.

Larry is survived by his wife Marlen Davis of Humboldt, NE; son Donald Davis of Humboldt, NE; brothers: Richard Davis and wife Martha of Humboldt, NE; Lester Davis Jr. and wife Naomi of New Mexico, step-sons: James Diller of Dawson, MN; Mark Diller of Madison, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023,  at the Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Llewellyn officiating.

A register book will be available for signing from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.

Inurnment will be at the Humboldt Cemetery with full military honors conducted.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice with a later designation.
