Roy Murphy, Jr., 79 of Falls City, NE, passed away April 22, 2022 at Lincoln, NE. He was born September 21, 1942 at Falls City to Roy and Maxine (Grady), Sr.
He married Patricia Riley on April 7, 1984 at Falls City.
Roy was drafted into the U. S. Army on May 11,1966 and was honorably discharged on May 10, 1968.
Roy was raised at Falls City and attended Falls City High School. When he was discharged he made a living as a musician playing in various places and he continued his love of music his entire life. In 1979 he became a Sargent for the Falls City Police Department and in 1989 he started D & R Construction and worked locally as well as for the Kickapoo Tribe. In 1996 he started working for Golden Eagle Casino as a security director, then as the Gaming and Licensing Investigator and then as Executive Director. During that time he was also worked as a Deputy Sheriff during Vernon Buckminster’s administration. He retired in 2015. He was a member of First Brethren Church, VFW, American Legion, and the Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
Roy is survived by his wife, Patricia of Falls City, children, Angie Moore of Las Vegas, Sherry Bennett and her husband Dennis of Gretna, NE, Julie Stark and her husband Mark of Oro Valley, AZ, Stacy Ramer and her husband John of Shubert, NE, Michael of Peru, NE, Jami Monson of Horton, KS, brother, Don and his wife Patricia of Falls City, sisters, Vesta Mae Cochran of Shubert, Harriett Curtis and her husband Stan of Smithville, MO, Sharon Darveaux and her husband Raphael of Falls City, Carol Olson of Lincoln, NE, Linda Chavez and her husband Gene of Merriam, KS, Teri McClain and her husband Dave of Oregon, MO, seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, sisters, Shirley and Barb, brother, Roy Gene, granddaughters, Amanda and Jill Renea, a daughter in infancy, Marcia Kay one niece and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Rowell officiating. Military Honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
