William Roy “Turpy” Turpin

William Roy “Turpy” Turpin passed away December 23, 2020 at Sunrise Country Manor, Milford, NE. He was born to Roy and Helen (Rider) Turpin on March 30, 1951 in Omaha, NE.

At the age of 14 months, he entered the Beatrice State Development Center, Beatrice, NE. William resided there until April of 2008 when he was transferred to Sunrise Country Manor in Milford, NE. He lived there until his passing.

Being born with several disabilities, William far exceeded his life expectancy by many years with achieving the age of 69 at the time of his death. While at Sunrise Country Manor, he became very well liked and had exceptional care. All enjoyed Turpy’s ‘belly laugh’. He loved listening to music, playing with stuffed animals, and thoroughly enjoyed petting Therapy animals when they visited the Manor.

William is survived by his sister, Winnoma “Winnie” (Turpin) Bristol of Fort Dodge, IA, niece, Deanna “Dee” and her husband, Glen Huyck, two great-nephews, Bristol and Tyce Huyck of Knoxville, IA and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Helen Turpin, and brother-in-law, John Bristol.

A special thank you to the staff at Sunrise Country Manor for all the love, care and support given to Turpy over the past 12 plus years. Also, thank you to the St. Croix Hospice Team for all they did during the weeks and days prior to his death. Everything has been greatly appreciated.
