Michael James Paulson was born on October 1, 1953, and passed away on June 23, 2020
Michael was a kidney transplant recipient and an active participant on Team Nebraska. He was especially proud of the ballroom dance medal he won at his last Transplant Games. Michael loved nature and visiting the national and state parks. He enjoyed the springtime and being able to watch the cranes. He liked to participate in other outdoor activities: football, volleyball, softball, boxing, hiking, spelunking, fishing, hunting, and rafting events. Michael was also a big fan of car racing. He liked to both drive cars in amateur events and watch professional races. He was the proud owner of a ’76 Mustang Cobra.
Michael was an intelligent, educated person, and was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, the highest leadership fraternity at UNO. While in school, he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology/sociology and later a master’s degree in social work. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved all of his family and friends and enjoyed making memories with everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Paulson; children, Jocelyn Paulson and Jillian Paulson; grandchildren, Jordan Williams, Jakobe Williams, Jeveah Young, and Alivianah Schaffart; mother, Ruth Paulson; sisters, Kathi Hyde and Cheri Miller; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family, friends, and teammates.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents; brother, Steve Paulson; nephew, Steven “Bubba” Paulson Jr.; uncle, Don Milburn; and other family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Kremer Funeral Home.
