Helen Martinosky, 86, of Falls City, passed May 23, 2019, in Falls City. She was born January 24, 1933, in Dawson to Jesse and Edna Marie (Etter) Spurgin.
She married Fred Gossett on March 31, 1952, in Dawson and they later divorced in February 1959. She married Donald A. Martinosky on May 6, 1960, in Stella. He passed away on October 22, 2012.
Helen was raised in Dawson graduating Dawson High School in 1951. Her first marriage they established their home in Toledo, Ohio and lived various places when Fred served in the Marine Corps. They moved back to Dawson in 1959. Her second marriage they established their home in Salem in May 1960, in 1964 they purchased a farm SW of Dawson which became their permanent home. She was a homemaker and started painting houses in 1978 working with her son’s company and painted on her own since 1990 until she retired. Helen was a member of the Community of Christ at Hiawatha, KS and regularly attended Northridge Church of Falls City.
Helen is survived by sons Craig Martinosky and his wife Lori of Branson, MO, Scott Martinosky and his wife Julia of Nebraska City, NE, daughters Sharon Thomas and her husband Ray of Salem, Karen Sheldon of David City, NE, Janice Ellner and her husband Martin of Hiawatha, sisters, Ona Mae Wenig of Kearney, NE, Norma Alford of Fayetteville, AR, Cheryle Weir and her husband Charlie of North Carolina and Karen Eickhoff and her husband Jerry of Lincoln, eleven grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Kenneth, Arthur and Larry Spurgin and great-grandson Jesse Ezekiel, II.
Her funeral service were held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 10:30 A.M. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jerry Jeschke of Highland Christian Church officiating. Interment was Heim Cemetery at Dawson.
The family received friends on Tuesday from 7-8:00 P.M. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials to family choice.
