William F. Pupkes

William F. Pupkes, 90, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.  He was born on August 23, 1928, to William and Emilie Pupkes in Falls City, Nebraska. He married Gail Brown in Sabetha, Kansas on November 18, 1950, and made their home in Falls City until their daughter was born at which time they moved to Gladstone, Missouri.

Upon graduating from Falls City High School in 1946 he joined the Navy serving on the USS Iowa.  William was recalled for the Korean War and served on the USS Bryce Canyon. Upon retirement as an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad after 40 years, he moved to Jefferson City to be near his daughter and family. William was a Do-It-Yourself man who also loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending his time doing yard work and vehicle care.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gail; daughter: Susan Klempke (Larry) of Jefferson City; grandchildren: Erik Carlson of Austin, Texas and Terra Nickelson (Ben) of Jefferson City; nieces, nephews and many friends. William was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Mary Jane Forney and Ervin Pupkes; special nephews: Jerry Forney and Don Pupkes.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 6600 Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri, with full military honors.
