Mary Ann Metzner

Mary Ann Metzner, 97, of Falls City, passed away August 6, 2018 in Topeka, KS. She was born September 5, 1920 in Barada, to Henry and Ursula (Bauman) Pupkes. 

Mary Ann was raised in the Rulo area and graduated Sacred Heart High School in 1939. She worked for the Farm Service Agency before marriage. 

She married Stewart Metzner on May 14, 1941 in Falls City. He passed away July 25, 1979 

When married the couple established their home south of Preston, NE. She worked various jobs in Falls City and worked seasonally at the Richardson County Assessor’s Office. She retired in 1979 and cared for her mother. She continued to live in Falls City until moving to Topeka in 2016 to be cared for by her daughter. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, and County Extension Club.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Glenda Kuhl and her husband William, Jane Hagstrand and her husband Pete both of Topeka, Dr. Raymond and his wife Luan of David City, NE, Vince and his wife Denise of Falls City, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Donald.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Thomas Dunavan as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.

A Parish Rosary will be recited on Friday at 6:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. The family will receive friends afterwards.

The family prefers memorials be made to Sacred Heart Endowment Fund.-
