John J. Manley

John Joseph Manley was born March 30, 1953 in Falls City, Nebraska to Leo and Cecilia (Farrell) Manley, Sr. He grew up in the Dawson area graduating from Dawson-Verdon High School in 1971  John attended Milford Vocational School graduating in 1973.  In 1980, John moved to Denver, CO to attend Rocky Mt. School of Art and Design, graduating in 1982.  John resided in Golden, CO until 2005, when he moved back to the Dawson area.

John was married to Peggy Lee (Van Winkle) on July 30, 1977.  John has been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 18 years.  Over the past several years, John has served as a rural mail carrier for the Sabetha, KS postal service.  In his spare time, John loved painting, music, and watching his grandkids play sports.  He passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the age of 65 years. 

He is survived by his wife, Peggy, son, Matthew Manley and wife Alicia of Fairview, KS, step-daughter, Christina Storrs and husband Scott of Broomfield, CO, grandchild, Shelby of Broomfield, CO and four step-grandchildren, Breeahana, Gabby, Joekwon, and DaeShawn of Fairview, KS, brothers, Leo Manley, Jr. and wife Betty of Dawson and James Manley and wife Darlene of Aztec, NM, many nieces, nephews and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rose (Manley) Burda.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson, Nebraska with Father Kenneth Hoesing officiating.

Interment was in the Heim Cemetery in Dawson, Nebraska.
