Services will be Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 20th and Towle, Falls City, NE at 11 am. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Steele Cemetery, Falls City, NE.

Albert attended school in Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1936. He also completed a two-year agricultural short course from the University of Nebraska.

During World War II, Albert was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, on August 20, 1942.  On February 15, 1946, he received an Honorable Discharge from the Army at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

He married Margie Watton in Hiawatha, Kansas, on March 27, 1946, and made their home on a farm, two miles northeast of Falls City.  He and Margie farmed and raised cattle on this property for 52 years.  He managed numerous family farms in his later years of life.  He was a co-founder and co-owner of Pigs Unlimited Corporation.   He retired from farming in 1986 and they moved into town in December of 1997.

Albert W. Rieschick was baptized at the Bauman Church, now known as United Zion Church of Christ, northeast of Falls City.  On April 9, 1933, he was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 20th and Towle Streets in Falls City. He would later serve as president of the Church Council at St. Paul’s Church.  He was also a member of District 47 and 48 School Boards.

After retirement, Al and Margie loved to travel throughout the United States and Europe. They particularly enjoyed visiting Alaska which they did several times.  Albert was a craftsman with woodworking and was a wonderful gardener.

He was known affectionately by his nieces and nephews as “Uncle Al,” and they have wonderful memories of coming to the farm during their summer vacations.  His grandchildren called him “Grampa Al.”  He was known for his generosity to his family.  While he had a somewhat quiet manner, there was no question his mind was active and aware until the end of his 101 years.
