LAWRENCE STRECKER

Lawrence W. Strecker, 93, formerly of Rulo, passed away Friday, Nov. 13, at Milford. He was born  in Barada on Jan. 15, 1922 to Charles J. Strecker and Julia (Schawang) Strecker.
When he was young his family moved to a farm north of Rulo. Lawrence was united in marriage to Betty Jane Olson on Feb. 3, 1943 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rulo. The couple made their home on a farm north of the brick school house. Together they raised five children.
Lawrence loved the farm raising cattle and working the land. He loved fishing and had a commercial license – it was also his favorite hobby. Lawrence drove a truck, hauling livestock for many years. Lawrence was a faithful man, very active in his service to the church. The couple moved to Lincoln to be closer to their children, and for the last year, due to ongoing illness, they had lived at the Sunrise Country Manor in Milford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmer and Clarence Strecker; sisters, Marie Nugent, and Julia Mae Strobel.
He is survived by his wife; children, Gerald Strecker, of Primghar, IA, Linda  (Harvey) Lile, of Lincoln, Mary Lynn Burnett, of Wichita, KS, William (Diana) Strecker of Crook, CO, Allyn (Sue Ann) Strecker, of Des Moines; grandchildren, Tracy Strecker, Christopher (Tamera) Strecker, Renee (Scott) Floracek, Paul (Margaret) Strecker, Laura Strecker, Stephen Strecker, Patrick Strecker, William Strecker, Jennifer (Allen) Brown, Lisa (Michael) Rea II, Keith (Melissa) Lile, Jason Burnett, Jeremy Burnett and Mathew Burnett; 18 great-grandchildren other relatives and many friends.
A funeral mass for Lawrence will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rulo. Burial will follow at the Rulo Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Hall Funeral Home in Falls City. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Falls City
