ERNEST WERNER

Ernest A. Werner, 95, of Falls City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017 at Falls City. He was born to the late Ernest and Anna (Tubach) Werner.

Ernest was raised at Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1939. He enlisted in the Army and served from Aug. 20, 1942 to Feb. 24 1945. Upon discharge, he returned to Falls City and worked on the family farm.

He married Thelma McCann on Jan. 21, 1946 at Hiawatha, KS. She passed away on March 31, 1997.

When married the couple established their home on the family farm, located five miles northeast of Falls City. He farmed his entire life until retiring in the early 1980’s. Following retirement they would travel to Texas in the winters and then back to Falls City for the summers. He delivered propane for Heetco, Inc., for many years. He enjoyed selling antiques and making his tramp art by the name Ho Bo Ernie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Gertrude Freeby.

Ernest is survived by daughters, Janet (Larry) Trompke, of Lewellen, NE; Joyce (Dave) Lyons, of Falls City; son, Steven (Wilma) Werner, of Stella; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Weinert officiating. Inurnment at Steele Cemetery.
