DENISE SAILORS

Denise Sailors, 65, of Falls City,  passed away on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 at Falls City. She was born June 9, 1951 at Council Bluffs, IA, to the late Sherrold and Anne (Jacobsen) Blaney.

Denise was raised in Council Bluffs and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1969. After graduation she worked at Tip-Top at Omaha and then enrolled at Iowa Western, graduating with an associate’s degree in business. She started working at Corn Belt Automotive and then became employed at Automotive Warehouse Distributors, Inc. She worked there for 40 years in various capacities until retiring due to her health in June 2016 as the Chief Financial Officer. She had also served on the Board of Directors of the Automotive Parts and Service Association.

On Dec. 8, 2007, Denise married Chuck Sailors at Nebraska City. The couple made their home in Nebraska City until recently moving to Falls City.
Denise is survived by her husband, Chuck, of Falls City; step-children, Ali (Kris) Glathar, of Falls City, Mitch (Julie) Sailors, of Kansas City, MO; sister, Janet Marley, of Council Bluffs; brothers, Brian Blaney of Omaha, and Mark (Shirley) Blaney, of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Norma Messersmith; and a sister-in-law, Bev (Mrs. Brian) Blaney.

The body of Mrs. Sailors has been cremated and services are currently pending. Friends may sign a guest registry starting Monday during regular business hours at Dorr & Clark Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to Richardson County Cancer Fund.
