WILLIAM ‘BILL’ PARSONS

William “Bill” R. Parsons, 71, of Marengo, IA, passed away Nov. 6, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born in Lincoln on April 29, 1945 to William and Jean Parsons.

Bill graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Chillicothe, MO, and North Central Missouri College in Trenton, MO. Bill served with the military police in the U.S. Army. After graduating college, he spent 40 years working in the LP gas industry.

He loved family, especially his girls, and his four grandchildren. He was a huge sports fan, coin collector and loved his Corvettes.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Norma; daughters, Valarie Bartunek, and Molly (Tyler) Garrison; grandchildren, Haley Johnson, Charlie Garrison, Smith Garrison and Will Bartunek; mother, Jean Parsons; sisters, Madeline (Leon) Wilhelm, of Falls City, Mary (Mike) McKim, Jan Beezley, Vickie (Doug) Sackman and Monica Kuker; brothers, Lee (Kelli) and Mike (Teresa) Parsons; sister-in-law, Brenda (Bill) Bell; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by father, William R. Parsons; nephew, Bill Magie; niece, Natalie Cunningham, and brother-in-law, Ron Keller.

Per Bill’s wishes, his body was donated to the Anatomical Board of Nebraska. He received a liver transplant at UNMC 15 years ago and had a very special relationship with all there.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family for future charitable donations.
