Edna P. DeLay, 82, of Lincoln, formerly of Falls City and Nebraska City, died on March 10, 2013, at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln.
She was born on May 9, 1930, in Nebraska City, the daughter of Melvin Theodore and Della Belle (Fivecoats) Hershey. Edna married Victor A. DeLay Sr. on July 18, 1945. She was a devoted wife, mother and housewife who enjoyed needlework, crocheting and sewing. She also did babysitting for many years, as well as laundry and ironing services.
Edna is survived by her sons, Dan DeLay, Omaha, Roger DeLay, Lincoln, and Robert (Susan) DeLay, Lincoln, daughters, Shirley (Doug) Farmer, Lincoln, Sandy (Jay) Adams, Pensacola, FL, Linda Stoner, Omaha, and Christine (Randy) Williams, Ponca City, OK, a daughter-in-law, Sandy DeLay, Cookeville, TN, 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Victor, on Sept. 24, 2009, a son, Victor DeLay Jr., in January of 2013, brothers, Ed Hershey, Bob Hershey and Melvin Hershey, and a half-sister, Stella Peterson.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 14, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, with Rev. Rob Conner officiating. Burial was at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City. Memorials are to the family’s choice.
