MARILYN L. SLAGLE

Marilyn L. Slagle, 81, of Falls City, passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at Falls City. She was born on Nov. 21, 1935 at Falls City to the late Jay and Minnie (Kammerer) Slagle.  

Marilyn was raised in Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1954 and Peru State College in 1958. She then attended Colorado State University at Greeley, CO, and earned her Masters Degree. She taught music at North Platte, Ft. Morgan, CO, and Council Bluffs, IA, for 35 years. She was awarded the Lewis Central Education Association Top Teacher Award for the 1975-76 school year. She retired in 1993 and returned to Falls City.

Marilyn was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Iowa State Teachers Association, NEA, Lewis Central Retired Teachers Association and was also a past church organist of her church.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Slagle, of Nebraska City; 14 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dean and Phillip; and sisters, Evelyn Slagle Garrett and Janice Crose.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Andrew Chavanak officiating. Interment will be in Williamsville Cemetery. Visitation is open at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, Falls City.
