MARILYN MURPHY

Marilyn Murphy, 83, of Rulo, passed away Nov.8, 2016 at Falls City. She was born Nov. 19, 1932 at Falls City to the late Roy and Esther (Harder) Schmutzer.
Marilyn was raised at Falls City and graduated Falls City High School in 1952. Following graduation she worked for Hauck Insurance Agency and also for the Vet’s Club. On June 15, 1963 she married Ed Murphy at Rulo. He passed away Sept. 11, 2014. When married the couple established their home in Rulo where they owned Murphy’s Grocery Store for 30 years. Following the closing of the grocery story she volunteered helping older people with respite care, delivered Meals on Wheels, played piano for Sacred Heart School and was active in the Falls City Alumni Association. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by daughter Ruth Ann Huppert and her husband Steve of Falls City; grandchildren, David, Drew, Derek, and Madison all of Falls City.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Reuben and Donald and a sister, Helen Schmutzer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Rulo with Father David Oldham as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.
A Parish Rosary will be recited on Friday at 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. Family will receive friends following the rosary.
A Catholic Daughters Rosary will be recited on Friday at 4:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
