BILL BARTLETT SR.

Bill Dean Bartlett Sr., 60, of Crete died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 after a heroic year-long battle with colon cancer. He was born Dec. 29, 1954 to Wilbur and Ardene Bartlett,
Bill was raised in Falls City, and graduated from Falls City High School in 1973. While achieving his Associates Degree in Electrical Technology from SCC Milford, Bill met the love his life, Lynn Rechtenbach on the tennis courts in the Milford park. From then on they were nearly inseparable and were married on Jan. 24, 1976. Bill and Lynn lived in Milford and Lincoln for many years, before settling on an acreage on the edge of Crete in 1992. Bill worked as an electrician for Bunge Milling in Crete for over 20 yrs. He also enjoyed classic cars and was a member of the Prairie Region of the Plymouth Owners Club.
Bill lived an honorable life, and his highest priority and interest was always his family including his three children: Crystal, Bill Jr, and Rebecca. Bill always put his family above everything else. He was a simple and quiet man, but his riches were in his family and his greatest treasures were his 5 granddaughters Katlynn, Becca, Shelby, Lyberty and Dacoda. Bill lived his life in a positive and caring way, and had little concern for most the extraneous fluff of today’s society. His free time was spent reading or watching educational shows about cars, history, and homesteading practices, although he did have a love of science fiction.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn, his beloved dog Kisha of Crete; children, Crystal (Shawn) Dewey of Crete, Bill (Melissa), of Beatrice, Rebecca Bartlett and fiancé Andrew of Lincoln; granddaughters, Katlynn Dewey; Rebecca Corter; Shelby Bartlett; Lyberty Bartlett and Dacoda Bartlett. His mother, Ardene Bartlett of Crete; father-in-law, Jim Karpisek of David City, and brother Bob Bartlett of Falls City. Bill will be remembered by numerous family, friends and coworkers.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Bartlett and mother-in-law, Shirley Karpisek.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.  Rev. Rod Lyon will officiate. Bill’s wishes were to be cremated, there will be no visitation. Bill had a love of nature and trees were very important to him.
Memorials in lieu of flowers care of the family for future designation or you can plant or donate to the family a tree or shrub in his honor so that his love of life and family will live on.
