VIVIAN (TIEHEN) STRAHM

Vivian Ruth (Tiehen) Strahm, 92, of Sabetha passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Apostolic Christian Home.

Vivian was born on April 16, 1923 the daughter of Thomas and Myrtle (Kirk) Tiehen at Salem, Nebraska. She grew up in the Salem area, and graduated from Salem High School in 1940 and attended Peru College for one year.

She married Milan Edward Strahm on January 25, 1941. Vivian was a homemaker and mother to their three children. As Vivian’s children entered school she was employed by the Sabetha Seed House and the Sabetha School District as a cook. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active with the U.M.W., helping prepare many dinners with the “kitchen ladies”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milan Strahm on January 4, 2006, after 65 years together; infant son, Lynn Edward Strahm and three sisters. Survivors include her children, D’Ann Niehues and her husband, Gene of Sabetha, KS; Darlene Flack and her husband, Robert of Bellingham, WA; Mark Strahm and wife, Kathy of Sabetha, KS; brother, Jack Tiehen of Topeka, KS and seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sabetha. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church. Interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.
