LELA WENZ

Lela Wenz, 93, of Falls City, passed away Oct. 19, 2015 at Lincoln. She was born Oct. 11, 1922 at Falls City to the late Fred and Margarita (Reschke) Mez.

On Nov. 24, 1943 she married Elmer Wenz at Hiawatha. He passed away Jan. 24, 1972.

Lela was raised on a farm in rural Falls City, when she was done with her schooling she became a housekeeper until becoming married. When married, the couple established their home on the current family farm and lived their the remainder of their lives. Lela was a farm wife, working alongside her husband until his death and she continued to farm, even helping Leon when he took over the farming operation. She was also involved with livestock on the farm. Lela loved to garden and can her garden harvest. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20th and Towel St.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Linda Church; sisters, Wilma Scholl, Alta Fugett, Alma Hunker and Gertie Wenz.

Lela is survived by a son, Leon (Mary) Wenz; daughters, Lavina (Gary) Zentner, Lucy (Thomas) Strasil, all of Falls City, and Lois Williams, of Auburn; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Fr. Larry Parrish officiating. Interment at Steele Cemetery.
