Lady Tigers’ hosting home opener Friday Night

The Falls City High School 2015 softball season officially got underway last week, as the Lady Tigers opened the year with a resounding 9-5 road win over Nebraska City Thursday.
FCHS improved to 2-0 (against Class B opposition, no less) first thing Saturday morning in the opening round of the Freeman Invite, beating Wahoo 7-5. From there, though, the Lady Tigers fell back to earth, losing 8-2 to Raymond Central and 11-1 to Wilber-Clatonia. Both those teams are currently 3-1 on the young season. Raymond is one of the top two or three teams in Class C and Wilber features the Homolka sisters, who led the Nebraska Fury Gold Team to a national title this summer.
Falls City hosts the home-opener Friday, August 28; Varsity starts at 4:00 p.m. Tonight the Tigers play in Savannah, MO. They travel to Maryville, MO, Thursday and host Southern Friday.
“We played against some good state tournament quality competition this first week,” Coach Jason Bredemeier said.  “That will make us better in the long run. These teams give us a goal of where we want to be by the end of the season.”
