F&M Bank has announced that, as of June 1, Kevin Malone will succeed Merle Veigel as Bank President. Veigel, who began his banking career almost 40 years ago at what was then First National Bank, Merle will retire from day to day work at the bank on May 31. He will continue to serve on the F&M Bank Board of Directors.
Malone is currently the bank’s Executive Vice President and has more than 32 years experience in banking, with the last 29 at First National/F&M Bank in Falls City. The Burchard native and Nebraska Wesleyan University graduate first worked at Johnson County Bank in Tecumseh for two years before moving to Falls City and what was then First National Bank.
“I am delighted to announce that Kevin is being promoted to President,” said Phil Burns, F&M Bank’s Chairman and CEO. “Kevin brings many years of community banking expertise to the position, along with a great understanding of our customers and a dedication to serving their personal and business banking needs.”
Malone has long been an active member of the community. He’s been Treasurer of the Falls City Recreation Board of Directors for more than 25 years and Treasurer of the Richardson Foundation for well more than a decade. Malone was one of the founding members of EDGE and remains active within the economic development entity.
Kevin and his wife, Janet, have two children: Austin, a 2015 graduate of FC Sacred Heart who’s enrolled at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and Lauren, who will be a sixth grader at Sacred Heart.
