ORMAN LAWRENCE DRUMM

Orman Lawrence Drumm, 82, of Beatrice, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. He was born on Monday, Sept. 19, 1932 at Stella to Willam Jessie and Nellie Ann (Yoder) Drumm.

Orman attended Bourke Country School and graduated from Stella High School. In January of 1952, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he was a mechanic and later joined the Navel Reserves. On Jan. 18, 1953, he married Marilee Boden at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. Orman went to the Great Lakes Navy Station in Illinois and while attending Great Lakes School, Orman and Marilee lived in Waukegan, IL. He moved to the Norfolk, VA, Navy Station and served on board the Landing Ship-Tank.

When his father died, Orman returned to Nebraska and farmed, raising Black Angus cattle and hogs. In 1972, he became a Farm Bureau Insurance Agent. Orman quit farming in 1976 and moved to Beatrice to become an Agency Manager for Farm Bureau, retiring in 1995. Orman was a 4-H leader and active in the Southeast Consolidated School Booster Club. He was a member of the Quad County Pork Producers, Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion, Geddes-Thober Post #1077 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Aerie #531 of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and previously had served on the Board of Hidden Acres Golf Course.

Orman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilee; three children, Bruce (Nancy) Drumm, of Wichita, KS, Joyce (Mike) Chandler, of Beatrice, and Susan (Tim) Brewer, of Humboldt; six grandchildren, Curtis (Kaarin) Ramer, of Locust Grove, GA, Marcus (Amber) Ramer, of Roca, Andrew Drumm of Fayetteville, AR, Tyler Drumm, of Indianapolis, IN, Jana Brewer (and fiancé Cody Neer), of Lincoln, Carlyn Brewer (and friend Darian Haynes), of Omaha; and five great grandchildren, Alec, Nick and Emma Ramer, and Aurelia and Elias Ramer. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice, with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Inurnment will follow be at noon in the Stella Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice.
