LESTER W. DUERFELDT

Lester W. Duerfeldt, 91, of Falls City, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Falls City. He was born April 3, 1924 at Falls City to the late Clifford and Edna (Ruegge) Duerfeldt.

On June 24, 1945 he married Anna E. Noyes at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She passed away on June 30, 2010.

Lester was raised northeast of Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1941. Following graduation he farmed with his father and brother. He farmed his entire life and also raised livestock. He retired at the age of 80.

Lester was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, northeast of Falls City, and had served on the church council and was Sunday School Superintendent. He served on the District 23 School Board, Community Hospital Board, and the ASCS County Committee. He was also involved as a 4-H leader for more than 50 years and was a founding member of the Williamsville Happy Go Lucky 4-H Club.

He is survived by a daughter, Beverly (William) Hankins, of St. Charles, MO; sons, Jerry (Linda) Duerfeldt, and Stanley (Stacey) Duerfeldt, both of Falls City; brother, Marvin (Norma Lee) Duerfeldt, of Falls City; sister, Bernice Matthes, of Falls City; granddaughters, Tracy (Marty) Dlouhy, Shelley Hankins, Jennifer (Matt) Uher, Christi (Cory) Wegener, Becky (David) Gossman, Shelby Duerfeldt, Lindsey Duerfeldt , Kelly (Brent) Sparrow, and Carol (Kevin) McMillen; 13 great-grandchildren.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Funeral services will be held on at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Andrew Chavanak officiating. Interment in Williamsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
